Description
Trestle piers from an old mine spur lead at Floodwood on the CHV&T near Nelsonville, OH.
These can be reached by trudging through thorn bushes (more like trees actually) just shy of a bridge on the Hocking-Adena Bikeway (I think it's around milepost 14 or so, to the south of the path), running/falling down the embankment, and crossing a small swamp-ish field of thorns until one reaches yet more thorns at the base of the trestle piers. This can be followed back until the trestle meets the old RoW on a hill, and supposedly leads back to two mines, though I only went back about 1/2 mile before vegetation became quite dense and the path was difficult to follow. Winter may be a better time to attempt this.
