So let's see here, it's been a rather busy month for me...
- Had my first time using a DSLR and an AF lens.
- An old tripod is being replaced tomorrow with something that is hopefully sturdier than my current ghetto-dilapidated hobo of a tripod I have right now. Currently it's held together with hot glue, duct tape, and drafting tape, as well as being without two of the linkages from the legs to the center column, making deploying and folding the tripod interesting to say the least. I know it's three or four years old, but still... At least it still works as a tripod even if its performance isn't quite up to par.
- The connecting head for the $60 remote I bought for the D90 came apart about 4 weeks after I started using it, making me wonder why it cost me that much in the first place. It was wonderful while it lasted, but the connector leaves something to be desired (and it was already a pain in the ass to open the little rubber cover over the "GPS" jack just to plug it in in the first place). I'm not sure if I should by anther one or one like it, or just go for the wireless remote at this point. I want one, but after this one failing so soon I'm rather hesitant...
- Let's see, a piece of my 35-70mm zoom lens just came apart (nothing major just annoying) about 20 minutes ago for a reason I don't yet know. Think I'm buying some epoxy tomorrow to put it back together. No matter.
- Have a few neutral density filters coming with the tripod (once I get paid and can buy them that is), as well as a red filter so I can mess around with both the red colour and the effects on black & white images. Should be useful for skies and for when it starts snowing.

All for now. Time to add deviations.

Edit, 24.10.09 0603 EDST: New idea for long exposures & note to self. Large f-No., fast shutter speed, low ISO. Sequence of RAW images overlaid so as to be equivalent to a long exposure in terms of movement, but without washing out the image.
Initial test with 1/4000s, f/11, ISO 125, Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 MF.
Now for some sleep...
Edit, 27.10.09 0001 EDST: Daylight long exposures worked fairly well, though movement is still an issue. Need to find better subjects for further experiments.
Edit, 28.10.09 0345 EDST: Neutral density filters and remote arrived today. Tripod has been tested and seems to work nicely, as well as being more stable than my previous one. Time for some fun later today.
